How I Find the Best Items on Facebook Marketplace
I’ve always loved the thrill of the hunt on Facebook Marketplace, but let me tell you, our move to Connecticut really sparked an entirely new level of excitement and opportunity.
I’ve sourced Bill’s office desk and bookcases, a bed and nightstands for transitioning out of a toddler bed, my beloved mudroom hall tree and my favorite spindle chairs in our family room all on Facebook Marketplace.
Worth noting, in the last few months, more and more bots and scams have popped up via Facebook Marketplace so definitely do some digging before sending anyone your money!
It’s all about curating your feed so that you’re served the items you like in a more timely fashion.
Here’s how I curate my feed:
1. Start by running different searches (round coffee table, counter bar stools, Pottery Barn light fixture, Serena & Lily, Ballard Designs, etc.).
2. If you see something you like, mark ‘Save’. Save it even if it’s not something you want to buy so that you’re teaching the algorithm what you like.
3. Expand your radius and be okay driving a bit. Bill has visited some lovely towns in CT thanks to my purchases. We actually had this bed delivered for an extra $20, and I had these Serena & Lily nightstands within three hours of them being posted. I really lucked out with those as the owner ended up living 5 min away.
4. While this isn’t about finding pieces, don’t forget you can negotiate the price.
Happy shopping!
